Sunday 20 March saw the sun burst through the sky and almost 30,000 participants rising early to hit the streets of Melbourne for the Herald Sun | CityLink Run for the Kids.
For the eleventh edition of Run for the Kids event participants from weekend warriors to the Easter Bunny, celebrities, Rio Olympic hopefuls and politicians taking to the streets across the 16km and 5km events, the colourful crowd were all there to run, jog or walk in support of the cause that touches the heart of every Victorian.
The generous efforts overall raised $1.7 million for The Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal. And propelled the event’s overall donation to more than $14.1 million since the events inception in 2006.
Michael Mancuso, Director of Employment of Education and participant in the large 16k course on Sunday said; “Our team were so thrilled to have been a part of this fantastic event especially as we contributed $1000 to the cause. The 16K course was pretty long but with the support from the crowd and the reason behind it all we pulled through!”
He continued; “Where can we sign up again for next year?”
The event definitely was a huge success!
